Towneley & its wildlife

Once again we had an excellent number of Members to our March meeting.
Mr Graham Gavaghan,  our Guest Speaker, has been involved with Towneley Park
for over 38 years, 24 of them a Park Ranger. He is a very accomplished
photographer recording the flora and fauna of the Park, the changing seasons
and the constant diversity within the Park. One of his greatest pleasures
is encouraging young people to look around them to see the beauty of nature
and making them aware of the need to conserve our wildlife.
Graham is extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of park management ranging
from tree diseases to keeping native plants from being hybridised. Graham's
bêtes noire are the grey squirrels with their fantastic ingenuity for
stealing the bird food.
Questions were asked, tea and biscuits served and everyone enjoyed the
afternoon.
